Welcome, Life! Labor and Delivery Photography in Mesa

Today I was honored and privileged to photograph baby Dillon's first experiences here on earth. His first moments...first bath, first swaddling, being weighed and measured...all the enchanting and mesmerizing moments that emerge after delivery. Pending editing and approval from mom and dad, I will have more pics up soon! What a blessed day!

Pics from Greer

This is just an echinacea flower from my sil's cabin's yard, but I'm a flower freak, so there ya go.

And this is a wildflower; we saw them everywhere up there.

Another wildflower. Saw this one at Sheep's Crossing near Greer.

Bryce not wanting his pic taken at Sheep's Crossing. The light was harsh...noonday stuff. No great photo ops there. Too lazy to pull out gobos.

Gorgeous sky, gorgeous meadow, gorgeous trees. I could live there. Definitely.

Back from Greer

Greer...what can I say about Greer? At 8500 feet, I was feeling the elevation. My flouride rinse exploded and flowed like a waterfall upon opening it that first morning. Fun! I was a little dizzy and out of breath from time to time (that could be all the food I ate, though). It's truly a beautiful place. Our second night there, I went for an early evening ride with my two of brothers-in-law, my father-in-law, and my nephew. We spotted a bear (so cool!), a few herds of elk, and a couple deer. It was magnificent! Not to mention the meadows, tall grass (oooooh the tall grass!), the aspens, and abundant pines. God's country.

If you haven't spent any time in the mountains recently, I highly recommend it. I haven't uploaded anything from the cameras yet (and never got around to pulling out the medium format, hehe) but promise to soon!

Shooting Medium Format

I just loaded up my old medium format camera with a roll of 120 and am going to shoot some 6x6's this weekend in the lovely area around Greer, AZ. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather, the greenery, the tall, lush trees, the high grassy meadows...anything other than the desert floor and cacti. And I'm actually looking forward to shooting my old Mamiyaflex.

Cheers!

HOT PICK: POSE Tech for Sexy Calves

I'm not completely sure if this has anything to do with being photographed (which is my goal when posting a HOT PICK), but I just have to share, since I lived a long time with chicken legs before discovering this little gem of a way to really get some sexy calves going.

I've been a runner since I was 10 years old. I started out as a sprinter, but then moved on to distance running. So, I've had the opportunity to develop different leg muscles according to what and how I was running at any given time. But never could I escape the chicken legs. The underdeveloped, skinny things were the bane of my existance.

Not to say that I have sexy calves now, but I HAVE calves and that is an amazing thing to me! After decades of running, I finally found a way to run that develops the calves wonderfully. Even if you already have killer calves, you might find this method of running interesting; it has been proven to reduce running-related injuries.

It's called POSE Tech. In a nutshell, you run on the balls of your feet (which some people do naturally; I was not one of those people), lifting with your hamstrings and leaning slightly forward. When I first started running POSE, my calves burned like fire for a few days after each run. Now that I've been running this way a few months, there's no burn; I've "broken in" this new way of running and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Maternity Photography in Arizona - Amy's Belly

Have you ever met someone and known instantly that that person was going to be a very signigicant part of your life? That's how it was with Amy. I just had that feeling, and over the past two years, my instinct has proven true time and again. Amy is my "soul sister" for lack of a better term. She and I have so much in common on an inner level that it just amazes me. This month, I'll be photographing special moments during Amy's labor and deliver of sweet little Dillon. I'm so honored that she's going to let me be part of that miracle. Until then, here are some photos of Amy and her adorable belly!

Wedding Photography in Arizona - The Lost Files

.
Okay, they weren't really "lost;" they just weren't included in any original posts from Rachelle's bridal session. Here are a few "bonus" pics from this fun session!

Rachelle's bridals were actually taken about a year and a half after her wedding. It turns out the photographer hired to shoot the wedding didn't do such a good job. This breaks my heart! They didn't have any photos of the wedding that they loved, no album to sit and look through while feeling the emotions of the day all over again. So, Rachelle put her dress on one more time and we got some bridals portraits that she loves!

Brides, engaged couples, choose carefully whom you hire to captures the precious moments of your wedding day. Make sure they have back-up equipment in case of camera or other equipment failure. At Miller&Miller, we have carefully invested in the finest professional equipment to capture your special moments. Our back-up equipment is of the same caliber as our main. We have invested in only the best...you deserve it!

Look at the beautiful detail on the mini-jacket Rachelle's wearing. Her mother made this! Amazing talent!

Session With Jared - Portraits in Mesa

It's so fun to meet new people! Jared's a very cool and interesting guy I met through my friend, John (pics of him forthcoming, too). How many people do you know who can look this good in 100+ degree temperatures with high humidity?

Tip - Weather, Storms and Your Camera

Here's a tip for all you photog fans who are enjoying the clouds and storms that are rolling in with Monsoon Season. We all crave the dramatic light that comes with storms, but we don't want to be caught with our cameras out in the middle of a monsoon! To protect your camera from sudden downpours or dust storms or any other weather related weirdness that blows in, just carry a large zip lock bag with you. Keep it in your pocket. If any nastiness rolls in, just slip the bag over your camera and lens then high-tail it out of there!

Speaking of the nice light that comes with the season, here's a pic of my little guy taken yesterday under a mix of white fluffy clouds and gray storm clouds. It produced nice, soft shadows and pleasing tones. Yay for Monsoon Season!
